The longest shot in the field Haimish Hy rallied from seventh at the top of the stretch to beat Lions Story by a neck Friday in the $100,000 El Cajon Stakes for 3-year-olds at Del Mar. Ridden by Alonso Quinonez, Haimish Hy was eighth and last in the early going, moved up to seventh on the second turn and sped past the field three-wide for the win, covering the mile on the main track in 1:36.55.
Hollywood Park to host Oak Tree meet in 2011 (AP)
Hollywood Park has agreed to host Oak Tree's meet traditionally run at Santa Anita for the second straight year in 2011. BG's Folly has been scratched from the $300,000 Cane Pace at Freehold Raceway on Monday because of sickness. The defection on Friday opened a spot in the opening leg of pacing's Triple Crown for Foreign Officer. The colt was the also-eligible list and will get the outside No. 8 post that was to have been the starting point for BG's Folly.
Me Love edges Ms. Short Pockets in Monmouth race (AP)
Me Love outlasted Ms. Short Pockets in a duel over the final 100 yards to post a head-length victory in the $82,000 featured race at Monmouth Park on Friday. Ridden by Eddie Castro, Me Love raced the mile and a sixteenth over a firm turf course in 1:41.4. The Dale Capuano-trained 4-year-old filly paid $11.40, $5.60 and $3.40 after winning for the first time in three tries at the racetrack.
Quality Road favorite in Woodward at Saratoga (AP)
Quality Road is the favorite to win the $750,000 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday. Quality Road experienced his first defeat of the season by Blame in the Whitney Handicap this summer at Saratoga. "We were a half-a-head short of (being unbeaten) this year," trainer Todd Pletcher said.
Queen of the Creek, Awesome Maria win at Saratoga (AP)
Queen of the Creek and Awesome Maria won 1-mile divisions of the Riskaverse Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the turf at Saratoga Race Course on Thursday. Queen of the Creek, ridden by Julien Leparoux and trained by Tom Proctor, led from the start and won by 3 1/2 lengths with a time of 1:33.94. She paid $10.40, $4.90 and $4.40, and earned $42,000 for owners Timothy B.
Fancy Point wins at Saratoga (AP)
Fancy Point won the $70,000 Phil Johnson Stakes for 2-year-old fillies on Wednesday at Saratoga, beating Kathmanblu by 1 1/2 lengths. Fancy Point, ridden by Javier Castellano and trained by Will Phipps, ran 1 1-16 miles on the inner turf course in 1:42.78 and paid $9.70, $5.50 and $4.60. She earned $42,000 for the victory in her second career start.

Jockey Calvin Borel knew Rachel Alexandra was in trouble with a quarter-mile to go in the $300,00 Personal Ensign at Saratoga Race Course. The reigning Horse of the Year had just put away Life At Ten after a mile-long duel for the lead and was bearing down on the finish line. "I didn't feel any acceleration and I got worried," Borel said.
Richard's Kid wins 2nd straight Pacific Classic (AP)
Mike Smith has climbed aboard Richard's Kid just twice. Both times proved lucrative, with the 5-year-old winning the $1 million Pacific Classic for the second straight year. Richard's Kid outran Crowded House by three-quarters of a length to win the West's richest race Saturday at Del Mar.
Gourmet Dinner wins Calder race (AP)
Gourmet Dinner rallied to win the $100,000 Affirmed Division in the Florida Stallion Stakes on Saturday, and Awesome Feather also won by four lengths in the $100,000 Susan's Girl Division for fillies. Awesome Feather ran seven furlongs in 1:24 2/5. Gourmet Dinner's time was 1:25 3/5. Both horses are in position to sweep the three-tier Stallion Stakes series.
